Golf

Nearby there are a number of golf courses. Greencastle 18 hole links course is minutes from the house. Ballyliffen’s two 18 hole links courses known as Glasheady and the Old Course are world renowned, they are only a short drive away. Royal Portrush which is hosting the British open in 2015 is also just a short drive away after getting the Greencastle ferry to Magiligan Point.

Fishing

For the fresh water angler there are many opportunities locally with the Rivers Finn and Foyle flowing into the Lough being some of the best managed salmon fisheries in Europe. Closer to hand there is the Crana River which flows into Lough Swilly which is also a salmon river The upper reaches of the Crana contain a reservoir of pristine water created by the Pollen Dam. This reservoir is managed as a trout fishery and boats are available for the angling enthusiasts.

For sea angling there is ample opportunity to experience many different types of fishing, from casting from any of the small piers in the locality, to rock fishing, or beach casting. Also sea angling trips for groups can be arranged locally

Boating

If its water sports you are interested in Just Kayaking is based in Moville only 3 miles from On the Rocks. Just Kayaking caters for all ages and all skill levels. Lough Foyle is a boating paradise and there is rowing and sailing constantly happening on the Lough during the summer months. Greencastle is the start point for most yacht races on Saturdays or Sundays in the summer. If you are here and there is a breeze be sure to catch one of these race starts as a spectator if nothing else

Motorbike Day Trips

If you are here on your motorbike there are a myriad of day trips of which we can advice, that will take you off the beaten track, and give the rider the spectacular views of the most beautiful parts of County’s Donegal, Derry, and Antrim. Information on really exhilarating biking roads can be provided. Maybe you prefer the speed of road racing, if so the North West 200 is only a ferry ride away to all the action.
